Miguel Assis Raimundo is Assistant Professor of Law at the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he has done all his academic formation and completed his PhD with a thesis on Public Procurement. An expert in this area of Administrative Law, his other research interests lie in the theme of the functioning of administrative courts, public bodies’ liability and more recently, religious freedom, having also attended a postgraduate course in Health Law at the Faculty of Law of the Portuguese Catholic University. Along with his academic path, he is a lawyer and an external advisor to various public and private entities. He was advisor of the Centro Jurídico da Presidência do Conselho de Ministros, attached to the Secretário de Estado da Presidência do Conselho de Ministros and is also a member of the editorial board of Revista de Contratos Públicos in Brazil. At the research level, we should highlight his talk at the PhD Student Conference on Public Procurement devoted to the theme “Direct awarding of public contracts in light of the portuguese Public Contracts Code” which took place in Nottingham. Miguel Assis Raimundo is known for his team work and for his capacity to articulate and coordinate with his fellow researchers from Centro de Investigação em Direito Público in various colletive research projects and conferences. Among his publications mention should be made of the following articles: “Catástrofes naturais e contratação pública” and “O objecto sujeito à concorrência de mercado no Código dos Contratos Públicos”, the chapter on “Direito Administrativo da Religião” of the Tratado de Direito Administrativo Especial coordinated by Paulo Otero and Pedro Gonçalves. He has also published books in the fields of public procurement: Estudos sobre contratos públicos, and a study of state companies and their relation to administrative tribunals: As Empresas Públicas nos Tribunais Administrativos. Contributo para a delimitação do âmbito da jurisdição administrativa face às entidades instrumentais empresariais da Administração Pública.
