Researcher, Lisbon Centre for Research in Public Law (CIDP)
As a Researcher dedicates herself to the design of courses, organization of national and international training events for legal practitioners, lawyers, prosecutors and judges in the areas of non-discrimination, hate crime, hate speech and other areas of European Union law and fundamental rights such as data protection, asylum and migration.
Rita Gião Hanek has contributed - as an Invited Researcher - to the creation of the online learning platform Joining up fundamental rights, toolkit for local, regional and national public official of the Agency for Fundamental Rights of the European Union, Vienna, Austria (2013).
Previously Rita has been an adviser to the Minister of Health and represented the Ministry in the National Commission for Human Rights (2009-2011)
She has also worked for the Permanent Representation of Portugal and of the Czech Republic to the United Nations in New York, United States, during Presidencies of the European Union, and negotiated United Nations Resolutions in Third Committee, Human Rights and Social Affairs (2007-2009).
Rita Gião Hanek holds a Master's degree from the Inter-University Center for Human Rights and Democratization in Venice, Italy and has been a Research Fellow at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary (2011/2012).
Has published work in the field of human rights, new governance mechanisms and constitutional law.
