Faculty Bio

Carla Amado Gomes is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and an Invited Professor at the Faculty of Law of the New University of Lisbon. She has been an advisor to the Portuguese Constitutional Court and is currently the Vice-President of the Instituto de Cooperação Jurídica of the Faculty. One of the most prolific and interdisciplinary scholars of the Faculty, Professor Amado Gomes has published widely in the fields of Administrative Law, Constitutional Law, European Law, Environmental Law, Cultural Heritage Law and Educational Law, also teaching in all these areas. More recently, she has been at the forefront of legal approaches to the environment and other related areas such as energy, biodiversity and natural catastrophes. She has organized several conferences and meetings, and actively participated in various seminars, workshops and collective research projects of interdisciplinary scope, engaging with academics and experts from the social and natural sciences. She has also authored or co-authored several books and articles of great public relevance, providing a great contribution to the dialogue between scholars and scientific fields and hence to the innovation of public law, placing energy, culture and the environment at the core of its research agenda. Amongst her projects and publications we should mention the titles A natureza constitucional do Tratado da União europeia, As imunidades parlamentares no direito português, As operações materiais administrativas e o Direito do Ambiente, Três estudos de Direito da Educação, Textos  dispersos  de  Direito  do  Património  Cultural  e  Direito  do  Urbanismo e O Direito da Cultura e do Património Cultural (co-edited) which attest to the diversity of research interests and research output.
