Faculty Bio

Jaime Valle is Assistant Professor of Public Law at the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon. He read for his PhD at the same Institute, where he currently teaches, having also taught at Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa, at the Military Academy, at the Instituto Superior Técnico and at the national University of East-Timor. He was a scientific advisor of the Faculty of Law of Bissau. His research interests fall in the fields of Constitutional Law, Political Science and Political Institutions. Along with his academic career, he has been legal consultant in the field of Urban Law and Land Law in several public entities, offering his services to Lisbon’s Municipal Hall, the Direcção-Geral do Ordenamento do Território e Desenvolvimento Urbano and the Inspecção-Geral do Ambiente. He was advisor to the Secretário de Estado Adjunto and the Secretário de Estado do Ordenamento do Território. He was also the Director of the Department of Legislation, Regulation and Conflict of the Instituto Nacional do Transporte Ferroviário and an advisor to the Ombudsman. Among his publications we should mention A participação do Governo no exercício da função legislativa, the co-authored book A Provedoria de Justiça na salvaguarda dos Direitos do Homem as well as the scientific articles “O Chefe do Estado nos trabalhos constituintes de 1911 – Uma instituição mal-amada” and “O lugar das convenções constitucionais no quadro das fontes do Direito Constitucional”.
