João Miranda is Assistant Professor of the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he completed his PhD in Urban Law. An expert in this area, he has a varied research agenda with a strong focus on administrative law and environmental law, which he also teaches at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Aside with his academic activity he is a lawyer an a jurisconsult. Among other posts, he has acted as representative of the Portuguese State in the group of Experts designated for the Committee of Human Rights of the Council of Europe and which was responsible for drafting the Convention on access to Official Documents. He was an advisor to the Secretariado de Estado da Presidência do Conselho de Ministros of the XIII Portuguese Government, an advisor to the Secretário de Estado do Ordenamento do Território e da Conservação da Natureza of the XIV Portuguese government and an advisor to the Ministro da Presidência of the XVII Portuguese Government. Among his publications, the title O papel da Assembleia da República na construção europeia and the articles «Património cultural e património ambiental» and «A função pública urbanística e o seu exercício por particulares» are very representative of his intellectual and scientific merit.
