Faculty Bio

Cláudio Monteiro is Assistant Professor of Law at the Instituto de Ciências Jurídico-Políticas (ICJP) of the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon where he read for his Doctorate. He is a researcher at the Centro de Investigação em Direito Público (CIDP), specializing in Municipal Law, Urban Law and Administrative Law. He has taught in these fields as well as in subjects such as Rights in rem, the right of urbanization and construction, the right of expropriation, which are part of the postgraduate courses of the Institute in Urban Law and Land Law. Apart from his academic activity, he is an expert lawyer in Administrative Law. He is an elected member of the Conselho Superior dos Tribunais Administrativos e Ficais and the President of AD URBEM, the Association for the Development of Urban Law. He is also a meber of the the Portuguese Association of Urban Law.
