Fausto de Quadros is a Full Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and the Jean Monnet Chairholder in Administrative and Constitutional European Law of the Faculty's Jean Monnet Centre for Excellence. He is one of the most distinguished national experts in European Law and develops research in all subfields of Public Law. He holds a masters and an LLM degree in Public and Economic Law, having read for his PhD at the Faculty. He has been a Guest Professor at several foreign universities such as the Robert Schumann University in Strasbourg and the Academy of Administrative Sciences (Speyer). His international activity as an international referee and legal expert is remarkable. He is a regular Consultant to several governments and companies in matters of European law, Public Law and International Law, having been an advisor to the governments of Austria and Poland in preparing for the acession to the European Union. Fausto de Quadros was a Consultant to the OECD regarding the public administration reform strategy of several EU member States. He has participated in numerous conferences and international symposia, mainly in the fields of European Law and Public Law and a distinguished member of several European and International Advisory Boards for the drafting of the Maastricht Treaty, the Amsterdam Treaty, the Nice Treaty, the European Constitutional Treaty and the Lisbon Treaty. He was also an ad hoc referee of the Mercosur, by appointiment of the Brazilian government. He has been a lawyer of the European Court of Human Rights and of the European Court of Justice. Fausto de Quadros has published widely in all fields of Public Law. Among his publications we should highlightnthe most recent books Droit de l'Union européenne and Contencioso da União Europeia (with Ana Guerra Martins) as well as the articles «L'effet de la supranationalité dans la séparation horizontale des pouvoirs», "Constituição europeia e Constituições nacionais" and "A responsabilidade civil extracontratual da Administração Pública".
